Week 2—Let’s go.

You made it past the chaos of week one. Now it’s time to settle in and build your momentum.

You don’t need to be perfect—just consistent. Show up, ask questions, stay hydrated, and trust that you belong here.

Small steps add up. Keep going. You’ve got this.

Reminder: Only animals officially approved by Housing are allowed in campus housing.
  • If your animal wasn't approved, it needs to be removed within 24 hours—no exceptions.
  • Students who were approved already got the 2025–2026 Animal Agreement to sign. If you didn’t get it, you’re not approved.

Violating the animal policy can lead to:

  • Disciplinary action
  • A fine
  • And removal of the animal—even if it was approved

Let’s keep campus safe and respectful for everyone. Questions? Email Living.

Roommate Agreement

Residents will receive more information later this week about completing the roommate agreement.

Vacancy Checks

If there’s an empty space in your apartment or suite, make sure it stays clean! Housing and Residence Life may assign a new roommate/suitemate at any time, and we want them to walk into a space that’s ready to go.

What you need to know:

  • Vacant spaces must be kept clean and move-in ready.
  • Vacant bedroom sides not kept clean may be charged a cleaning fee if custodial staff must go in and make it ready for a new assignment.
  • We’ll try to give you 24 hours’ notice before someone moves in — but stay ready just in case.

Let’s keep it fresh for future roomies!

Thermostat & A/C Use
(O'Daniel North/South, McDonald West)
  • Thermostats are programmed so that units will not cool below 68 degrees, even though the digital display shows as low as 61 degrees.
  • Please do not set units below 68 degrees. Doing so can cause the system to lock up or freeze.
  • Avoid running the air conditioner on the lowest setting for long periods, as this can cause condensation on the walls and lead to mildew or mold growth.
  • Be sure to keep at leastÌý18 inches of clearanceÌýaround the unit so it can function properly.
  • Do not turn off the dehumidifier in the dining area.
University Provided Furniture

All Housing and Residence Life facilities are fully furnished. Due to limited space in housing, furniture may not be removed from student apartments or residence hall suites. Students who remove University-provided furniture will be charged for replacement after move out.

Grills
The use of personal grills in University housing is prohibited. Public grills are provided throughout housing for student use. Use the grills in accordance with the following guidelines:
  • Clean grills thoroughly before and after use. You may use aluminum foil on the grills, but foil must be removed after you are finished and discarded properly.
  • Only match-ready charcoal (no lighter fluid) may be used with the grills and stored in apartments or suites.
  • Used coals must be placed in the coal disposal bucket located next to every grill.
  • Trash must be removed from the grill area and disposed of properly.
  • Paper trash must be thrown away in garbage cans and not the coal disposal bucket.
Don't Flush That!

Please only flush toilet paper. Flushing hand towels, paper towels, Kleenex, feminine hygiene products will cause sewage lines to clog, resulting in toilets to overflow and sewage to backup into your living space. These types of products should be thrown away in the garbage for your safety and convenience.

Residents should not use flushable wipes. While such products indicate they can be flushed, flushable wipes do not break down like toilet paper and will cause plumbing clogs and sewer backups.

Residents cannot alter plumbing in apartments or residence halls.
